I love my pool light, so I give an emphatic YES! to that question. For me, having a pool light is an extension of the lighting in my landscape. I enjoy having the pool lit when I am outside or when I am entertaining. When entertaining in the winter months most of the time I have the lights on. But the most important reason for having a pool light is being able to see what is in your pool when you swim at night. Nighttime bugs are ok, unless they are spiders. Other people get critters in their pool. I found an interesting story on the internet last week.
On June 3rd, The Dallas Morning News reported that a 5 foot long alligator was pulled from a residential pool. It said that it was found by the homeowner on Saturday. I hope he found it in the morning rather than at night. The gator was pulled out of the water by Gary Saurage, owner of Gator Country in Beaumont. The video can be seen on the youtube website. Click on this link to watch 5′ Alligator Removed From Texas Pool The video shows Mr. Saurage wrestling the gator out of the pool. BTW, that’s a nice liner they have in their pool! Mr. Saurage says in his video that he likes to catch them alive so that he can teach kids about gators. I looked up The Gator Country TX website and it shows ‘Gator’ on the menu. I don’t think the homeowner will have to worry about seeing this gator in his pool ever again.

Cool article I wouldn’t want to swim with that gator! I really like the Hayward color logic light with five enticing solid colors and seven electrifying color-changing shows the light has something for most everyone. If you plan to build your on pool I would highly recommend that you consider a color changing light many manufactories make them like Pentair Multicolor, IntelliBrite, SAM, Fiberstars Jazz or Fiberstars Multicolor lights. If you plan on having a spillover spa I would also recommend getting a matching light for the spa make sure that the light has Sychronicity of multiple lights.
If you have an above ground swimming pool I would also recommend a pool light like the Aqua Luminator it installs directly into any return fitting. No holes to cut or reseal. Aqua Luminator isn’t recommend with a salt system so the Astral that attaches to the swimming pool wall under the top rail and extends into the swimming pool water would be a good light.
