They say that shopping for a swimming pool for your home is as difficult as shopping for a car. This is actually true, since choosing the make, designer and liners can be very daunting.

Pool Liner care is very important . I notice in my store that many consumers use chemicals , such as shock products and low level algaecides , purhased from big box retailers and online stores that cause many problems including overstabilization ( which is acidic) clouding and an increase in totally dissolved solids . None of which is good for a liner

If you are wondering about what the chemicals are and how they affect your water, go to our Weekly Maintenance Guide. It can be found at this link:

Scale on pool walls and fixtures? Cause: High pH, excess alkalinity. Excess calcium hardness. Fix: Reduce pH between 7.2 - 7.6 with pH minus or muriatic acid to reduce total alkalinity between 60 - 100 ppm if using chlorine granular. 90 - 125 ppm using chlorine tabs or sticks depending on pH and calcium hardness. Lower calicum hardness if necessard by draining some water and replace it with water with less calcium hardness.

The stain could be caused by minerals in the water. Usually from copper algaecide. Use Metal Out or Demineralizer when your chlorine level is a little below normal and brush daily.
