Here are a few safety tips for swimming pool owners. We want everyone to have a safe but fun time while they enjoy their swimming pool.
1) Swimming Pool Safety cover - this will provide safety for friends, family, and pets when pool is not in use.
2) Supervision - always supervise your children when they are around the pool. It only takes a few minutes for tragedy to strike.
3) Pool Alarm - pool alarms will help notify any disturbances to the water when the swimming pool is unsupervised.
4) Pool Fence - this will help give you control of who enters the pool area when unsupervised.
5) No Diving in shallow water - this is very dangerous and is not allowed in any above ground swimming pool or shallow end of an inground swimming pool.
6) Never swim alone - Having someone with you while you swim can help prevent an accidental drowning.

After reading this list, our family has decided that when we install our inground pool this year we will have a ‘no one swims alone’ rule at our house.
Any existing pool with main drains I would recommend that you inspect the main drain covers at the beginning of the pool season and as often as possible. If your pool doesn’t have Anti Vortex drain covers I would recommend replacing them ASAP.
Above ground pools you should always remove ladders and anything else that can be used to get into the pool when there is no adult to watch the pool. Also if the pool will not be used for a long period of time a cover should be used.
