James -

Thumbs up on the salt system! I put one on my pool last year and I didn't smell chlorine anymore and the water seems soft.

Most salt system manufactory recommend 1 pound of stabilizer for every 50 pounds of salt. Always test salt and stabilizer especially on existing pools and even on new pools. New plaster swimming pools need to have 30 days to cure before adding salt.

Never again worry about red irritated eyes, dry itchy skin, bleached bathing suits or green hair! Salts systems will turn salt into chlorine to sanitize your pool and then will revert back into salt. The salt is recycled and never wears out. With only a teaspoon of salt per gallon most systems will produce enough fresh chlorine to maintain a 40,000-gallon pool without the chlorine smell. If you live in a warm weather area I would recommend buying a system that has a gallons rating of at least 120% of your pool size because you need more chlorine in hot weather then cold weather.
