A pool water clarifier is specifically used to clear up cloudy pool water. There are different types of clarifiers. The basic clarifier attaches itself to small particles of dirt and debris in pool water making them large enough to become filtered out by your pool filter. Make sure your pool filter is clean before adding any clarifier to your pool. The day after you add clarifier to your pool water, make sure you vacuum your pool and clean your filter once more. This will ensure that none of the debris stays in your pool and also keeps it from making its way back into your pool through the filter. The other type of clarifier is typically referred to as "Drop Out," "Super-Clarifier," or "Floc-Out." This type of clarifier works a bit differently. Instead of attacking the very small particles specifically, Floc Out causes larger particles, leaves, and other debris to drop to the bottom of the pool making them easy to vacuum out. You will always want to vacuum your pool after adding any type of clarifier!
